Platform Priority

Transparency & Accountability

Building trust through open communication, accessible information, and accountable decision-making.

Why It Matters

Transparency Builds Trust

Families deserve clear information about the decisions that affect students, schools, and the future of our division.

Trustees make decisions about policy, budgets, governance, and the overall direction of the school division. Those decisions should be made openly, communicated clearly, and explained in a way that is accessible to families and community members.

Good governance is about more than making decisions. It is also about helping people understand why those decisions were made.

As Trustee, I will support greater transparency, stronger communication, and meaningful engagement with the community.

In Practice

What Transparency Means to Me

Transparency is not simply making information available. It means making public information easier to access, understand, and use.

Timely

Share important information early enough for families to understand what is happening.

Clear

Communicate decisions and proposed changes in plain, understandable language.

Accessible

Make it easier for people to follow public discussions and find relevant information.

Accountable

Be willing to explain the reasoning behind decisions and answer questions respectfully.

My Commitments

What I Support

Accessible Public Meetings

Support livestreaming public board meetings so families and community members can follow public discussions even when they cannot attend in person.

Clear Communication

Communicate major decisions clearly and consistently so families understand what was decided, why it matters, and how it may affect students and schools.

Understandable Policy Changes

Clearly explain proposed policy and governance changes, including their purpose and potential impact.

Accessible Leadership

Be visible, approachable, willing to listen, and prepared to explain the reasoning behind important decisions.

Public Accountability

Questions Families Should Be Asking

Transparency is not about politics. It is about whether the public can understand how decisions are made and how those decisions affect students and schools.

  • Are important decisions communicated clearly and in a timely manner?
  • Can families easily find information about public meetings and board decisions?
  • Are proposed policy changes explained in understandable language?
  • Do trustees explain the reasoning behind significant decisions?
  • Are families given meaningful opportunities to stay informed and provide input?

My Commitment

Open, Clear, and Accountable Governance

As Trustee, I will work to support greater transparency in board decision-making, improve communication with families, encourage meaningful community engagement, and keep students at the centre of every decision.

Strong schools require trust. Trust begins with transparency.

Focused on Students. Accountable to Families.
